SKINPEN® MICRONEEDLING

MICRONEEDLING is a collagen induction therapy, and is used to lift sagging skin, and smooth away fine lines, moderate wrinkles, and even deep skin folds. It can treat acne and ruddy skin, and correct hyperpigmentation, age spots, sunspots, acne scars and stretch marks.

During the microneedling procedure, the skin is pricked with tiny sterilized needles, creating micro-channels (microscopic holes) in the skin. This process stimulates the skin, kicking its healing process into high gear, replacing these “micro-wounds” with new dermal tissues and blood vessels, which are made up of rich collagen and elastin proteins. Once healed, the result is more youthful looking skin — smoother, brighter, clearer firmer, and toned.

We use the FDA approved SkinPen® Precision device for microneedling. SkinPen uses a proprietary needle cartridge containing 14 32-BWG (gauge) solid stainless steel needles that can be adjusted for penetration depths of .25mm to 2.5mm, depending on the area and issue treated, puncturing the skin at a rate of 1470-1797 punctures per second. While microneedling is most often performed on the face and neck, SkinPen’s versatility allows it to create change and improvements in the skin on many other areas of the body as well, including the chest, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

A single microneedling treatment takes about 30 minutes. There is absolutely no pain or discomfort during the treatment, and immediately after, you will look like you have a mild to moderate sunburn, and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. Keep in mind, these effects are normal and they typically subside within a few hours after treatment, but can take up to 24-48 hours to resolve. We recommend no topical corrective skincare products (especially retinoids and vitamin C) be used for the first 24-48 hours, ensuring the micro-channels close first. A broad spectrum sunblock should be every 2-4 hours for at least the first three months following the procedure as the upper layers of skin that are being repaired and replaced are very sensitive to UVA and UVB exposure.

You will begin to see improvements to your skin within a week, with more dramatic results developing over the next 4-6 weeks, because that’s how long it takes the skin to finish producing all the new collagen. (If you’re having microneedling to correct deep scars or stretch marks, you may not see the final results for 9.5 months, depending on how many sessions you need.)

These results are long lasting and cumulative, which is why we often recommend purchasing a series of treatments, performed 4-6 weeks apart, to get the optimal benefit, depending on your unique situation and areas concern. RADIOFREQUENCY (RF) MICRONEEDLING, also a collagen induction therapy, is a scientifically advanced synergy of two of the most effective minimally-invasive cosmetic treatments available today. It provides the skin-tightening, collagen-producing, and wrinkle reduction of microneedling with fractional radio frequency (RF) to induce deep skin regeneration, for a remarkable level of skin rejuvenation.

During treatment, RF stimulates structures under the skin, and the heat produced causes targeted, controlled damage, and in turn, collagen and elastin both undergo degradation. This is a complex way of saying they unravel and immediately cause the collagen matrix to shrink and contract. The skin then lifts and tightens to deliver a more youthful appearance.

PRP THERAPY

PLATELET RICH PLASMA therapy (PRP) is innovative procedure that uses the body’s own blood plasma to stimulate healing and achieve results, also known as stem cell therapy. Inside plasma are tiny cells that contain special proteins that are incredibly beneficial to the body in terms of healing. These tiny healing cells are called growth factors, for their ability to encourage the body to grow and form new cells, and can be used for:

Before your microneedling session, a small amount of your blood is drawn (the equivalent of 2 teaspoons for a vampire facial) and placed in a centrifuge to separate the blood. To produce PRP, the blood spins (separates) in a centrifuge at a high speed for about 15 minutes, seperating the blood into distinct layers. We then collect the platelets and plasma in the upper part of the test tube and use it to infuse the skin. These concentrated growth factors then go in and encourage the damaged areas to begin the cell production process.

PRP can also be directly injected into a specific area to address very specific concerns.. We currently inject in the scalp to correct hair loss, and under the eyes to combat the hollow, sallow look that comes with aging. ENZYME PEEL FACIAL

The ENZYME PEEL FACIAL combines 3 powerful exfoliating and healing treatments to promote skin cell turnover and skin rejuvenation: microdermabrasion, an enzyme peel and LED Light Therapy.

We start with microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion gently sands the skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer, and has many benefits. This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage and stretch marks. Next, we apply an enzyme peel. Like chemical peels, enzyme peels dissolve dead skin to reveal fresh, healthy skin. MEDICAL GRADE CHEMICAL PEELS

A CHEMICAL PEEL is a cosmetic treatment in which an acidic solution to the face to exfoliate damaged skin and unveil pristine new skin. Depending on their ingredients, chemical peels vary widely in strength.

LIGHT PEEL

A LIGHT PEEL is the mildest type, and is generally made from an alpha hydroxy acid like glycolic acid or salicylic acid. It’s used to treat fine lines, acne, uneven pigmentation, and dry skin. It works by removing the epidermis or topmost layer of the skin. Generally speaking, patients will need multiple treatments to get desired results, and can have this type of peel as often as once a week. There is no downtime.

MEDIUM PEEL

A MEDIUM PEEL is stronger and remove more layers of skin, containing salicylic acid, which is a “keratolyctic” that dissolves the comparatively hard skin cells of the epidermis. It also contains lactic acid that helps hydrate the skin. It produces more dramatic results than a light peel, and many patients see noticeable results after just one treatment, that only improve with a continued, consistent treatment schedule. Medium peels do require a longer recovery, so therefore it is recommended not to do a medium peel more than once a month. A medium peel is used to treat more severe blemishes and skin conditions: sun damage, scars, wrinkles, and discoloration. It can also make rough skin smoother.

DEEP PEEL

A DEEP PEEL contains high concentrations of trichloroacetic acid, and it’s the most powerful of the chemical peels. While it produces more dramatic results than light or medium peels, it also requires a longer recovery time, and the procedure takes longer. Patients should plan to stay at home that weekend during recovery. The first day after treatment usually consists of tight skin but no peeling. Day two the patient may begin to see some flakiness. Day three into day five is usually the height of the peel and the skin will be very sensitive. The skin begins to normalize around days six and seven. There is a very definitive aftercare instruction plan in order to protect the sensitive skin, and promote healing and optimal results. A deep chemical peel will produce long-lasting and dramatic results that can last up to 10 years.
