IPL (INTENSE PULSED LIGHT THERAPY) uses a broadband spectrum of white light, producing a mixture of many different colors, to treat a variety of skin concerns at the same time. It differs from laser light, which is monochromatic, non-divergent light that targets a very specific, singular concern. IPL Therapy (also known as photorejuvenation or photofacial) is for anyone who has pigmented and vascular lesions (think red and brown) on their face and body as a result of sun or aging, and treats:

• Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)

• Rosacea (redness)

• Freckles

• Vascular lesions such as telangiectasias (spider veins) 

• Fine lines

• Sun damage and poikiloderma (sun aging consisting of hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, and other skin surface changes caused by sun exposure)

• Gin Blossoms (broken capillaries on the nose)

We use Lumecca technology, which is the most powerful IPL available, yielding superior results in skin clarity and complexion in 1-3 treatments versus 4-6 compared to the standard IPL. It targets the deeper layers of the skin, destroying damaged cells without any harm coming to the surrounding tissue, quickly improving texture and skin appearance. Lumecca IPL not only repairs signs of aging and sun damage, but it helps prevent future aging concerns as well by stimulating collagen growth for effects that are more visible and last longer. 

The most common areas of treatment are zones that are regularly exposed to the sun or show discoloration due to aging – usually on the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arms. The effects last 6-12 months, and even having just 2-3 treatments a year can help restore the gene expression of your skin to look much younger than it actually is.

Laser Hair Removal (LHR) works by using a diode laser beam to deliver a controlled amount of intense energy through the skin towards hair follicles, safely and effectively destroying follicles without harming the skin around them. Our Diolaze system combines using peak power and a large spot size simultaneously, so patients can achieve permanent hair reduction while going through shorter treatment sessions, even on the most stubborn hair. It has a built-in skin cooling surface which is one of the largest for all hair removal devices. This makes treatment more comfortable than other devices, with most patients noting that it’s virtually painless.

It’s true that LHR responds better to darker hair colors. Blondes and grays will have limited success, and therefore electrolysis may be the better option. But we will determine your eligibility during our initial consultation and complete skin analysis before we begin your first treatment.

LHR does require a series of treatments to receive optimal hair reduction results, and works best when hair follicles are in their mature stage. Each session typically yield a 10-25% reduction in hair growth, so usually 4-6 treatments are required, depending on your hair color, hair type, body area, and skin tone. Session spacing is based on your hair growth cycle.
